You Are More Than Your Talent

Let me ask you something… If ministry ended today, would you still believe you’re enough? That question hits deeper than most of us want to admit.
Because if we’re honest, it’s easy to slowly tie our worth, identity, and value to:
being scheduled
being seen
being needed
being on the platform
And we don’t always realize it’s happening until something shifts.
Maybe you’ve felt it before…
You’re not scheduled… and suddenly you feel disconnected.Someone else is leading… and comparison creeps in.You get feedback… and it feels personal instead of helpful. You’re off the platform… and your closeness with God feels distant.
That’s misplaced identity.
Here’s the truth we have to come back to: God called you His long before anyone called you a worship leader, a keyboardist, or a singer.
And being used by God does not equal being more loved by God. You were loved before you were seen. Chosen before you were platformed. Valued apart from what you do.
And when that is settled in you…
You don’t strive for the platform.
You don’t compete with others.
You don’t crumble under feedback.
You lead from overflow, not need.
Take a moment today and ask yourself:
👉 Where have I tied my identity to my role?👉 Do I pursue God the same way when no one is watching?
You don’t have to earn your place with God. You already have it. Now we just learn how to lead from that place.
Sit with that. Let God realign it. There's no shame in it... I have to do this DAILY!
Also, a quick update I’m excited about…
I just wrapped up a podcast with Worship Leader Magazine where we talk about this exact topic and so much more around leadership, identity, and stewarding what God has given you.
Make sure you check it out and send it to your team too. This is a conversation we all need to be having. The Walk Podcast with Amber Peairs
